What does that even mean? Daring to live your dream?
Go back to a happy time when you were a child. Remember the dreams you had? When we are children we don’t “dare to dream,” we just dream. Sadly, life takes over and somewhere along the line we lose that. But it’s always in the background.
I was thinking about this the other day. A dream I had when I was young popped back into my head. Wow! I hadn’t thought about that in SO long. It was about having my own book store. I remember when I was first thinking about that dream so long ago. I could envision all the details – where I wanted it to be, Cape Cod, near the ocean. I could envision the colors, the feel of the place.
I wanted to also sell gifts, like angels, crystals, stones, along with the books and bookmarks. I also wanted to have a small cafe with big, comfy chairs, the people relaxing in those chairs, reading a book and having tea. I could envision it all. It all came rushing back to me like it was 30 years ago.
It’s interesting to look back and see where my life has come from that place. All the twists and turns that I’ve taken. I don’t have that book store and that’s okay. My life turned out the way it did for many reasons. I don’t grieve that dream. I look at it as a stepping stone to an even bigger dream now. Just the fact that you can dream makes an enormous difference. It’s so much fun to go back to that place and think about the possibilities now.
I encourage you to give it a shot. Go for it. Gift yourself a few minutes every day to dream and see where it leads you. If you’re so inclined, I’d love to hear all about it so feel free to share.
